Privacy policy

Health First Chiropractic (Health First Chiropractic Australia Pty Ltd) respects your privacy. This policy explains how we handle your personal and health information under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. It applies to all practitioners at our clinic.

What we collect

• Contact details: name, date of birth, address, phone, email and emergency contact.
• Health information: health history, medications, scans and reports, examination findings and treatment notes.
• Claim and billing details: Medicare, DVA and private health fund details, and payment records. We never store full card numbers.
• Website information: see Website and cookies below.
• Security camera images from public areas of the clinic. There are no cameras in treatment rooms.

You can make general enquiries without giving your name, but we need to identify you to provide treatment.

How we collect it

Mostly directly from you: through intake forms, consultations, phone, email and online booking. With your consent, we may also receive information from your GP, other health providers, or a parent or guardian.

How we use and share it

We use your information to provide your care, manage appointments and reminders, process claims, communicate with your other health providers, run the clinic and meet our legal obligations.

We only share it:

• with practitioners at our clinic involved in your care
• with your GP or other health providers, with your consent or where directly related to your care
• with Medicare, DVA and private health funds to process claims
• with service providers who help run our clinic and website, such as PracSuite and Google
• where required or authorised by law

We never sell your information, and we won’t send you marketing without your consent.

AI-assisted note taking

We may use AI tools to help write clinical notes. If we do, your practitioner will ask your permission first, and you can say no at any time without it affecting your care. Your practitioner checks every note. We only use tools that keep data in Australia, don’t use it to train AI, and delete audio once the note is drafted.

Storage and security

Your records are stored securely in PracSuite, our practice management system, which is hosted and encrypted in Australia. Access is limited to authorised staff with individual logins. We keep health records for at least seven years after your last visit, or until age 25 if you were treated as a child.

If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we’ll notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).

Website and cookies

Our website uses cookies, Google Analytics and Google Ads conversion tracking to understand how visitors use the site and measure our advertising. Google may store this information overseas, including in the United States. You can block cookies in your browser settings.

Access, correction and complaints

You can ask to see or correct your information at any time, and we’ll respond within 30 days. If you have a privacy concern, please contact our Privacy Officer. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can contact the OAIC on 1300 363 992 or at oaic.gov.au.
