What to Expect at Your First Appointment
Your first visit is all about understanding what’s going on in your body and how we can help. Here’s how it works:
1. Warm Welcome at the Front Desk
You’ll be greeted by one of our friendly chiropractic assistants. We’ll confirm your details and give you a brief overview of the appointment.
2. One-on-One Consultation with Your Chiropractor
We’ll sit down with you in a private treatment room to chat about your symptoms, medical history, daily movements, and any concerns you may have.
This is a no-pressure conversation. It’s simply about understanding your story.
3. Examination and Testing
We’ll take you through a physical check-up tailored to your concerns. This might include looking at your posture, how you move, and gently checking your joints, muscles, and nerves to understand what’s working well and what’s not.
Everything is explained as we go, and nothing happens without your comfort and consent.
4. Clear Explanation of Findings
Once we’ve gathered enough information, we’ll explain what we’ve found in everyday language. You’ll understand what’s happening, what might be contributing to your symptoms, and what your options are.
5. Treatment (If Appropriate)
If it’s safe and appropriate to begin, we’ll usually offer your first chiropractic treatment on the day. If further investigation is needed, like X-rays or MRI, we’ll refer you to a trusted local provider nearby, depending on what’s most convenient.
There are times, such as after an injury, when symptoms are complex, or when spinal imaging is needed, where we may hold off until we’ve gathered more information. In those cases, we’ll refer you for scans or additional care at a nearby location in the Modbury or Tea Tree Gully area.
We’ll always explain why, talk you through the next steps, and make sure you feel supported every step of the way.
If we believe chiropractic care isn’t the right fit for your needs, we’ll let you know honestly and respectfully. We’ll guide you toward the most appropriate next step, whether that’s your GP, a physiotherapist, a specialist, or another local provider we trust.
Your health is our priority, and we’ll always recommend what’s genuinely best for you.

Follow-Up Visits: What Happens Next?
At your second visit, we’ll walk you through everything we found and talk about your options moving forward. This includes:
- A clear explanation of your results
- Care recommendations tailored to your goals
- Support for recovery, comfort, or performance
- What to expect as things begin to improve
You’ll have the chance to ask questions, explore your options, and decide what feels right for you.
Do I Need a Referral?
No referral is needed. Chiropractors are primary healthcare practitioners, so you can book straight in.
We also accept private health insurance claims on the spot using HICAPS.
If you’re unsure about your coverage, just ask. We’re happy to help.
What Should I Bring?
For your first visit, we recommend:
- Any relevant scans, reports or medical letters (if you have them)
- Your private health fund card (if using extras cover)
- Comfortable clothing that allows movement
Coming straight from work? No problem. We’ll adapt around you.

Frequently Asked Questions
Typically around 30 minutes. That gives us enough time to learn about your symptoms and experience, assess how your body is moving, and begin treatment if it’s suitable.
Most of the time, yes. If it’s safe and appropriate, we’ll usually begin care at your first visit.
In some cases, like when we need more information or feel another approach would be more suitable, we may recommend imaging, a review with your GP, or referral to another trusted health professional.
If that’s needed, we’ll explain why and make sure you have a clear plan moving forward.
Absolutely. Many people feel unsure about starting something new, especially if they’re in pain or have a complex condition. We take the time to listen, explain everything in simple terms, and check in with you throughout your care. You’ll always have a choice, and nothing happens without your comfort and consent.
Yes. If you have extras cover for chiropractic, it can be claimed through your private health fund. Our helpful reception team will process your rebate on the spot using HICAPS, so you’ll only need to pay the gap on the day.
That’s completely up to you. After your assessment, we’ll explain what’s going on and discuss your care options. Some people come for short-term relief, others choose longer-term support or wellness care. You decide what’s right for your goals. We’re here to support you either way.
Please bring any relevant scans, medical reports, or referral letters if you have them, along with your private health fund card. Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily.
And if you’re coming straight from work, no stress. We’ll work around it.
If we don’t think chiropractic care is the best fit for your situation, we’ll let you know straight away. That might include referring you for imaging or suggesting another health provider like your GP, physio, or specialist. Your safety and wellbeing are our top priorities, and we’ll always point you in the right direction.
