About Ella

Getting to know Ella

Ella joined Health First in 2014, after completing her Master of Chiropractic at Macquarie University. Her patients range from teenagers to older adults, and from desk workers to people who are on their feet all day. Her own background in hockey, umpiring and as a sports trainer for Greenacres, a local football club, means she also understands the strains that come with training and game day.

Ella’s approach is practical. She’ll check how your spine moves and how you stand and, where it helps, give you simple things to work on between visits, such as exercises for your posture or small changes to your day that help keep pain from coming back.

Posture and spinal curves have been her passion since university, when guest lectures on scoliosis set the direction for her career. She has since completed postgraduate training in non-surgical scoliosis care and is a certified SEAS practitioner. She explains what’s going on using diagrams, pictures and current research, so you and your family can make an informed decision about your care.

Her work in scoliosis care

Alongside her work at Health First, Ella is a scoliosis clinician at ScoliCare’s Adelaide clinic, where she provides non-surgical scoliosis assessment, bracing and case management. At Health First she checks and monitors spinal curves, and if a brace or a specialist opinion might help, she’ll explain why and coordinate the referral.

Firm or gentle, your choice

Ella’s care is hands-on, and she adapts her approach to what your spine needs on the day. When a lighter touch suits you better, she uses the Impulse instrument or drop-piece adjusting, where a section of the table drops slightly to soften the adjustment. She also uses flexion distraction, a slow, rhythmic table technique often used for disc and lower back problems.

Spinal curves usually need more than one approach. Ella uses adjustments and exercise to ease pain and stiffness, and SEAS, a scoliosis-specific exercise program, to help limit curve progression and improve mobility where the spine needs it. The ScoliRoll and Denneroll, supports you lie on during set exercises, let her target the curve and your posture directly.

Dry needling and taping are part of her toolkit too. Ella will explain the reasoning behind each so you can decide what’s right for you.

Yes. You don’t need a referral. Book online and choose Ella, or call us on (08) 8396 2929 and we’ll find a time that suits you.

Yes. If you’d rather not have a traditional adjustment, Ella can use the Impulse instrument, drop-piece adjusting or flexion distraction instead. For spinal curves and posture, exercise-based care such as SEAS is another option.

Yes. Scoliosis is Ella’s main clinical interest, and she sees many teenagers, often after a parent, coach or GP notices a curve. She’ll check their spine, explain what she finds and talk you both through the options. Care may include scoliosis-specific exercise, hands-on treatment for stiffness and discomfort, and regular checks to monitor the curve. If X-rays, a brace or a specialist opinion would help, she’ll explain why and arrange the referral.

Yes. Posture is one of Ella’s main interests, especially when it’s tied to back pain, neck pain or headaches from long hours at a desk, on a phone or on your feet. She’ll look at how you sit, stand and move, find the joints and muscles that are stiff or working too hard, and treat those with hands-on care. Where it helps, she’ll also suggest changes to your workstation setup. Good posture isn’t about holding yourself perfectly straight; it’s about moving well and not staying in one position for too long.

Yes. If your extras cover includes chiropractic, we claim it on the spot with all major health funds, so you only pay the gap.
